REVIEWS by the Cultured Kings

The Mystery Rooms Melbourne located in Fitzroy presents a fun night of puzzle solving, team-building or team breaking for your next group function or event. The premise is simple, your team gets locked inside a room which is filled with puzzles and mysteries for you to solve within 60 minutes. Your objective is to discover a rare artefact, hidden somewhere inside the room and then escape! The venue has multiple rooms or chapters, each with their own theme ranging from an ancient Egyptian tomb, to a medieval castle and even Ned Kelly’s last stand. Participants have to work together and use all their senses to uncover the trail of puzzles and unlock hidden areas to reach the ultimate goal.

What makes this series of escape rooms stand out from the others is its ability to immerse the participants in the adventure. For instance, the Egyptian tomb is filled with seven tonnes of sand which really makes you feel like you’re trapped inside one of the pyramids of Giza.

Overall, this was a highly enjoyable experience, but booking well in advance is necessary. Mystery Rooms Melbourne earns a rating of 4.5 padlocks out of 5.

Disclaimer: Yes, this is a review for a recently released movie. No, it is not about “IT”

As the sequel to its well-received predecessor, Kingsman 2: The Golden Circle has stayed loyal to the franchise and produced a film with a classic ‘spy saves the world’ plotline, but with a fresh style that almost deserves the label ‘cool’. Give the movie a pass if squirm-worthy violence and liberal coarse language is not your thing, but the dynamic cinematography in this film is an experience in itself. Breathtakingly brilliant actually. The action sequences are fast-paced and exhilarating, and when set against a rockin’ Elton John soundtrack it makes for a viewing that is simply fun. There is no better word.

Featuring some big names including Channing Tatum, Halle Berry, Julianne Moore and Colin Firth, Kingsman 2 is ultimately an exciting viewing experience that sets it apart from other spy films.
